Hearthstone Brewery Graham Cracker Ale ReviewHearthstone Brewery – Graham Cracker Ale

Hearthstone Brewery is located in North Vancouver and they have taken a stroke of creativity to some of their first released beers. One such beer is their Graham Cracker Ale. From the 473ml can the beer pours as a deep red colour topped with nearly three fingers of dense and lacing head. From the Graham Cracker Ale comes rich notes of vanilla, honey and an almost burnt-oak-like richness. One thing is sure from the smell though, even though it is not a boozy smelling beer it is clear that this is a formidable brew. A rich and creamy body makes way for a vanilla rich flavour profile. A light burnt flavour gives a caramel like tone along side the honey sweetness. The burnt flavour lingers in a bitter sweet finish to the beer. The Graham Cracker Ale is big and strong and could be categorized easily into the winter-spice beer category but it does offer something unique to beers that use that label.

Commercial Description (because it is rather funny)

In 1829, Presbyterian minister Sylvester Graham invented the graham cracker in an attempt at staving off an epidemic that was sweeping the nation – masterbation.

As a tribute to Reverend Graham, we decided to concoct a graham cracker brew with 50kg of graham crackers in each batch resulting in notes of honey, vanilla and all around graham cracker goodness.

So instead of knocking one out this evening, how about knocking one back with Hearthstone! Cheers!

While I preferred the first batch last year this was still a really great beer. Awesome for the cold winter nights.
