Big Rock Brewing Midnight Rhapsody Dark Ale Review Big Rock Brewery – Midnight Rhapsody Dark Ale Review

The Midnight Rhapsody is a Dark Ale from Big Rock Urban Brewery. Infused with Black Currants this limited release beer pours from the bomber bottle as a deep brown colour topped with a single finger of head which settles fairly quickly and leaves no trace behind. The aroma is quite fruit-forward with the currant notes giving a jelly like aroma without the big sweetness that comes with many other fruit-beers. The currant notes give a fairly deep aroma that is paired with a subtle maltiness. The flavour is as a dark ale should be with the addition of the currant notes. A mid-light body is matched with a nice toasted malt tone and the slightly sweet, currant flavour. The fruit notes are up front and quite apparent but do not take charge. The currant works well with the malt tones and gives a slight sweetness that works with a slight hop bitterness. Overall this is an enjoyable dark ale that has been twisted into a fruit-infused winter seasonal release.
