Black Kettle Northwester Red Ale Review Black Kettle Brewing Co. – Northwest Red Ale Review

Since opening the Black Kettle has stuck to their core brands but in the fall of 2015 they stepped out of the box and brewed some seasonal beers. One of their first bottled seasonal ales is a Northwest Red Ale that is part of their Limited Release Series. The beer is 6.0% alcohol and the label is typical of the brewery style. From the bomber bottle this beer pours as a deep amber colour with a very thin later of head. The slight amount of head lingers for a while and the beer gives off an aroma of Northwest hops, toasted malt and a rye-like spice. The nose is rather large on this Northwest Red Ale. The body is surprisingly light given the aroma and strength and it comes with a very mild carbonation. The flavour consists of a combination of big northwest hops, well-toasted malts and a bit of a spice. The beer is well balanced and big flavoured but rather light on the carbonation which brings out a bit of extra sweetness that you may not have otherwise noticed.

Alcohol – 6.0%
Size – 650ml
