Cannery Brewing Darkling Oatmeal Stout Review Cannery Brewing Co. – Darkling Oatmeal Stout Review

Cannery Brewing Company has added to their Artisan Creation line of limited release beers by brewing the Darkling, an Oatmeal Stout with poetry-like smoothness on the mind. Inspired by the classic Lord Byron Poem “Darkness”, the Darkling pours from the bomber bottle (or 355ml can) as a deep and dark black colour that does not let any light through. Two fingers of head tops the glass in a light brown colour that gives off a delicate aroma of chocolate, coffee and smooth, toasted malts. The flavour is smooth and creamy with a deep, darkness to it. Chocolate and coffee tones dance on the tongue while the toasted malt flavours add a smooth and delicious body to the ensemble. This beer is classically brewed but has smooth flavour in mind making for a delicious and traditional Oatmeal Stout.
