Craft Beer Hop Profile – Warrior Hops
The Warrior Hop was developed from Yakima Chief Ranches in Washington state. A rather strong Alpha Acid content of 14.5-17.0% makes the Warrior a very potent bittering hop. As a hop that grows rather vigorously and gives a great yield, the Warrior hop is a popular and affordable hop for brewers.
The strong bittering abilities and relatively mild aroma makes the Warrior Hop a base hop for many beers. Typically used in strong beers with a deep bitterness such as India Pale Ales, the Warrior is not a stand-out for flavour but the beers we enjoy most would not be possible without it.
The clean and mild flavoured bittering properties of the Warrior hop are similar to that of Columbus, Magnum and Nugget Hops. These are often used as substitutes of one another.
