The Off The Rail Brewing Company is joining the ranks of pun-inspired beers with their Raj Mahal – a lemongrass and Kaffir lime leaf infused India Ale. At 38 IBU and 5.0% this is not an IPA but an india inspired brew. From the colourfully labelled bottle the Raj Mahal pours as a dark golden colour topped with one finger of ever-so-slightly lacing head. A malty and citrus infused aroma comes from the head of the beer with a smooth lemongrass tone that is tempting to the senses. The flavour is malt forward and rather smooth. The lemongrass adds an airiness to the flavour and body while a light, citrus hop adds a refreshing note to the flavour profile. The Raj Mahal is light, smooth and extremely refreshing – A delicious, foreign-inspired local BC beer.
