Central City Brewers Detective Saison Review Central City Brewers – Detective Saison Review

The Central City Brewers & Distillers’ new Character Series of beers was launched with the Detective Saison. While there was some innital drama about the label the beer has now been re-released with a new design. From the bomber bottle the Detective Saison pours as a light, clear golden-straw colour topped with three thick fingers of loose head that leaves a very slight lacing on the glass’s sides. Through this head comes a light and spicy aroma. Mild yeast and wheat tones meld with a coriander spicy tone in a Saison that is clearly to style but not pushing the boundaries of intensity. Tasting the beer it has a mid-body and a sharp carbonation that settles into a wheaty, spicey, rather sweet and lightly yeasty flavour. As the flavour progresses so does the spice while a light hop bitterness emerges to settle the palate. The Detective Saison is light, on style and easy drinking while still having a relatively strong 6.0% alcohol content. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
