Cerberus is a Greek legend of a three headed dog. In this case though, it is a Triple Dry Hopped Imperial IPA that surely has a bite comparable to that of the dog. From Nanaimo BC the Cerberus pours from the bomber bottle as an amber colour topped with two fingers of lacing head. Through this big Triple IPA’s crest comes a creamy, lightly boozy aroma of big hops, light caramel sweetness and a malty backbone. The scent is strong but not quite as intense as you may expect. The body is smooth and lightly creamy while the flavour starts off with a toasted malt flavour. Light caramelization comes through in the toasted hues making for a unique and malty Imperial IPA. The hop tones build as the flavour progresses making for a toasty bitterness that is quite nice. This dog has more bark than it has bite and that is not a bad thing. The Cerberus is a balanced and smooth while big and intense beer but it is not the explosion of hop bitterness that my may expect. A balance of malt and hop with a toasty bit in between makes this beer a delicious and enjoyable Imperial IPA from Wolf Brewing Company.

[…] Cerberus is a big, delicious, and slightly dangerous beer from Nanaimo’s Wolf Brewing Company. I first tried it about a year ago after starting some work with Wolf Brewing. They were brewing a new beer: Kev's first big seasonal since starting with the company. It was a recipe he'd brought in from his home brewing days, a potent, triple-hopped Imperial Pale Ale. This was his first time brewing it on a large scale, and an exciting time for everyone at the brewery. […]
