Mission Springs Zeus Dark Lager Review Mission Springs Brewing Co. – Zeus Hopped India Dark Lager Review

Mission Springs has taken a Greek-god twist on their latest brew. The Zeus India Dark Lager is not actually from Greece but rather is brewed using the Zeus Hop variety. This India Dark Lager, or IDL, comes from Mission BC and is a dark twist on a summer beer. From the bomber bottle the beer pours a very dark, near black colour topped with three full fingers of heavily lacing head. From the Zeus Hopped IDL comes an aroma of chocolate, coffee, and nice, lightly bittered, hop tone. The body has a fairly strong carbonation to it and is rather large. An intense bitter-chocolate tone takes charge while a secondary hop-bitterness grows at the back of the tongue. The cocoa notes take charge along with a toasted malt flavour while the hop bitterness adds complexity. This beer is more bitter than expected and the chocolate tones take a strong foothold. This may not be what you were expecting but it is quite tasty.
