Small Town Craft Beer – The Cumberland Brewing Company

The town of Cumberland BC has many great things. With a population of only around 3,500 this small town attracts people from around the province and abroad for its quaint town feel, mining heritage, mountain biking and now… craft beer! In the words of Cumberland Brewing themselves, “Cumberland has always been a community on the fringes, a place where independent thinkers could come for a fresh start and to build something of their own”

This brewery is just that.

Cumberland Brewing Company The Cumberland Brewing Company is a small microbrewery that has opened up serving the thirsty patrons of a bustling little metropolis. Right on the main drag running through town it is an easy stop for a pint or two whether you are passing through, or cooling off from a hot summer’s day of exploring the world renowned mountain biking trails. Better yet, you can order a pizza while you are there to conquer your hunger in addition to quenching your thirst.

Cumberland Brewing Company The brewery may be small but this is no b-rate establishment. With a limited number of seats inside the patio area packs full where customers can relax in the shaded outdoors and enjoy their pints in the fresh, Vancouver Island air.

On the menu comes a lineup of varying flavours. From a west coast ISA and Rye IPA to an English style bitter or even an Oatmeal Stout the broad range of flavours is suited for just about any type of palate.

This place looks so charming and cool. I can’t really imagine a situation in which I’d find myself in Cumberland, but if I ever do I will definitely be checking this place out for sure. They pics make it looks like an awesome place to stop in for a couple pints.

Former Yellowknife friends and I enjoyed the ploughman’s lunch and the beer flight on the deck with the BC sun shining down upon us. Great service and I loved the Forest Fog and the Dunkle….. Next visit, More Cowbell!!!
