The first packaged beer to come from East Vancouver’s Off The Rail Brewing Company is the Raybuck Red Ale. As the can says this beer is “Handcrafted and approved by Steve”. Steve is the brewmaster in case that was not clear… From the pint-sized can, the Raybuck pours a reddish hue topped with a finger and a half of lacing head. A roasted and moderately hopped aroma comes through the settling head in a lightly sweet and caramel smell. On the tongue this beer is mid-bodied and has a toasted malt and caramel tone to it. The hops add a slight bitterness to the end along with a not-quite burnt flavour that adds a distinct bitter-sweet tone to the mix. Sold in 4-packs the Raybuck Red Ale is a tasty and rather dark Red Ale and a great first packaged beer from Off The Rail Brewing Co.
