Green Leaf Brewing Co. – The Wisenhower Hefeweizen Review

Green leaf Brewing - Wisenhower Hefeweizen ReviewGreen leaf Brewing Company has opened their North Vancouver patio and with that comes a flooding of session beers. The Wizenhower is a Hefeweizen at 5% and a mere 6 IBUs which is infused with Saffron. The beer pours as an over-carbonated brew that explodes with a half-glass worth of head. Settling relatively quickly the aroma is wheaty with notes of banana, clove and a kick of saffron. The cloudy beer is orange in colour and is slightly darker than your typical Hefeweizen. The Wisenhower has a kick of carbonation and a wheaty-banana body. The Saffron adds a balance of spice and citrus tones along with a light clove flavour. The body is slightly bigger than expected and would be pegged above the 5.0% mark. Given the bottle conditioning and carbonation levels the actual alcohol content could well be higher. Still though the Wisenhower is light on the tongue, sessionable and a delicious light Hefeweizen.
