Parallel 49 Brewing Company teamed up with the similarly named Forty Ninth Parallel Coffee Roasters to brew an Oatmeal Coffee Porter. This collaborative brew is the first release in a procession of many P49 collaborations to come. From the bottle this craft beer pours as a very dark, chestnut brown colour topped with a thick finger’s worth of head. From this beer comes smells of bittersweet chocolate and a whole lot of coffee. A body big for a Porter is slightly creamy verging on the profile of a stout. A nice balance of chocolate and coffee come to  fruition and are not as overpowering as the smell may have led you to believe. The Parallelogram is a smooth, big bodied porter with nice balance of flavour and a light kick of sweetness to pull the whole package together.
