Fernie Brewing Company’s talented and innovative team has a red ale in the roster of brew styles and this one is called the Big Caboose. From the 355ml can this beer pours a deep copper-brown colour with two fingers of head which leaves light lacing on the glass’s sides. The Big Caboose has a caramel, roasted malt aroma to it with a slight metallic tone on the nose. The beer is mid-bodied with a light toasted sweetness to it and a big, malty mid section. In the finish the mild hops become known with a slight bitterness along side a metallic flavour which lingers to the finish. This is a nice red ale that has big flavour and a darkness to it while remaining easy to drink and can easily be followed with another.
