Phillips Brewing Cherry Hilter Smoked Cherry Ale Review Phillips Brewing Co. Cherry Hieter Smoked Cherry Ale Review

Phillips Brewing is upping their game with new and exciting styles. new to the line of seasonal offerings is the Cherry Hieter, a Smoked Cherry Ale brewed using real cherries and house smoked malt. The beer pours a red-copper colour with two fingers of head which leaves light lacing on the glass as it settles. The Cherry Hieter smells of a sweet, cherry smoke. The depth of smoke with a sweet and sour tone of cherry gives this beer an intense and very unique aroma. Tasting this beer it has a sharp carbonation and a reasonably light body off the start. From here a cherry-like sweetness comes into play as the wood-smoke flavour builds in the background. As the beer’s finish approaches a sweet smokiness envelopes the palate giving a dry and smokey aftertaste. This beer may not be for everyone but the smoke is big yet balanced and a light cherry-sweetness further smooths the beer. This is a bottle which is definitely worth picking up to share among friends.

OK glad I read this before I tried it. This does not sound like it would be up my ally.
