Dageraad Brewing Co. – Randonneur Saison Review
Continuing with Belgian brewing tradition Burnaby’s Dageraad Brewing has released the Randonneur Saison. This traditional style saison is part of the Single Batch Series of beers and comes in at a moderately high 6.4% alcohol. From the bomber bottle this Saison pours a light, cloudy, golden colour with a solid 3+ fingers of erupting head. As the head settles a light film of lacing is left on the sides of the glass while the aroma consists of strong belgian yeast tones, coriander, orange-citrus and a touch of wheat. A light citrus-sweetness gives a bit of a smooth back to this beers bubbly appearance. The Randonneur is well carbonated and champagne like in mouthfeel. The falvour is deeper than you may expect with a bitterness along side the citrus, coriander and wheat tones that make up the majority of flavour. The hop bitterness is big for the style but works well with the high carbonation making for a flavourful, diverse and rather unique BC brewed Saison.
