Powell Street Brewery Opens New, Larger Brewing Facility

2014_09_BMBC-4921The Powell Street Brewery used to boast being one of the smallest breweries in British Columbia and its Nanobrewery status. This is accurate no longer as on September 24th the new, also located on Powell Street, brewing facility opened its 15 Barrel Brewhouse and tasting room. Located mere blocks west of its former location this new facility allows for the greater brewing capacity demanded from this star microbrewery and also the ability to host 30 people for growler fills, tastings and a few snacks.

The Powell Street success came early on with the 2013 Canadian Brewing Awards top accolade given to the Old Jalopy Pale Ale as the best in Show. Since that date the biggest problem this small brewing team has had is keeping up with demand. After three long months of being closed during the move process the wait is over and East Vancouver craft beer lovers can once again flock to this local hotspot.

Pouring favourites such as the Old Jalopy Pale Ale, Dive Bomb Porter, Ode To Citra Pale and the Hoptdemonium IPA the beer is flowing and the consumers are at times out the door awaiting the sweet fruits of this brewery’s labours. Don’t fret though, even if the line stretches out the front door a well staffed tasting counter and new growler filling station will keep the line moving and your thirst satisfied.

If you would like to check out the new Powell Street Brewery you can visit 1357 Powell Street Monday to Saturday from 1pm until 7pm. Perhaps we will see you there!
