Tin Whistle Brewing Co. – Strawberry Blonde Ale (2014) Review

Tin Whistle Brewing Company is in the heart of the Okanagan within the city limits of Pentiction BC. The brewwery has a focus on fruit inspired beer and the Strawberry Blonde Ale has become an annual favourite for BC craft beer drinkers. The 2014 edition of this beer was brewed with even more strawberries than last year but the seasonal differences have made the beer distinct from year’s past. The Tin Whistle Strawberry Blonde Ale pours into the glass a light amber coulour with a very thin finger of head. Settling quickly the head whofts an aroma of mildy sweet, honey infused strawberry. This is all aboard a blonde ale base. The strawberry is subtle and light but adds complexity to the nose. The flavour has a distinct strawberry flavour but is less than you would expect and less than in years’ past. The base is a solid blonde ale and the strawberry adds a slight sweetness and a smoothness to the flavour. Overall this tastes like a lightly infused Blonde giving a lightness and sweetness to an already very sessionable beer.
