Cannery Brewing has named their Pale Ale in tribute to the strength and determination of the BC Dragon Boaters. This Penticton brewed ale pours from the bottle a light amber/golden colour topped with a finger and a half of thinly lacing head. The smell coming off the Paddles Up Pale Ale is malt forward with a toasted nose and a slight creaminess. A hop bitterness does come into play but plays second string to the malted front. In the flavour this beer starts off malt forward with light caramel and honey tones. This builds into an almost spicy middle as the hops grow in the background. The finish is mellow with a light bitterness at the back of the tongue. As Cannery has always done this is a sessionable and flavourful beer that can be enjoyed by many. Nothing is over the top but the flavour is smooth, easy drinking and of course, delicious!
