Persephone Brewing Co. – Best Bitter ESB Review

When you put the word ‘Best’ into a title it better be good. That said, the expectations are high for Persephone’s Best Bitter. This ESB pours from the Gibsons BC origin bottle a copper colour topped with one finger’s thickness of head. The Best Bitter smells of malt and caramel. A light hop along the solid toasted malt base makes for a rather light and smooth smelling beer. The flavour is rather malt forward with caramel tones and a bit of a metallic flavour to it. Overall the Best Bitter is fairly smooth and has nice, smooth malts to it. The iron-esque metallic flavour is not overpowering and gives an ice-tea like flavour to the beer with a combination of mild hop, light sweetness and solid malts. This is a light and easy drinking ESB with some uniqueness to bring it all together.
