Tree Brewing Rickshaw Raspberry IPA Review

Tree Brewing Co. – Rickshaw Raspberry IPA

From Kelowna BC comes Tree Brewing Company’s Rickshaw Raspberry IPA. At a relatively low 5.6% (for an IPA) alcohol, the expectation for this beer is to be rather light and sessionable for a summer IPA. The beer pours a very slightly clouded amber colour with a touch of pink to it from the raspberries. Topped with a finger and a half of head which settles rather quickly, the glass is left with light lacing on its sides. The aroma is light but distinct with raspberry scents and sweetness to it. Raspberry is the main event here being up front and not letting much else through the fruity front. The flavour is less raspberry-esque than the scent forecast. The beer starts off dry with a distinct hop profile with Raspberry tones. Slight bitterness from the Perle, Centennial, Cascade, Columbus and Crystal hops gives a diverse bitterness that builds into a greater, raspberry infused sweetness. The finish has remnants of the hop profile but a touch of sweetness and raspberry flavour is left on the palate in the final notes. This beer is fruity but not over the top. Raspberries add to the package but do not mask the IPA in which has great flavours on its own.
