Prohibition Brewing Tasting Lounge – A Tasting Experience in the Heart of Yaletown

Prohibition Tasting Lounge - Yaletown BCIn a unique twist from BC brewing standards the Prohibition Brewing Compnay has opened an off-site tasting lounge in the heart of Vancouver’s Yaletown. Located at 1269 Hamilton Street this small establishment gives craft beer enthusiasts the opportunity to try five Prohibition Brewing Company beers on tap in addition to a delicious variety of snacks and light meals along side.

Prohibition Menu Items

The tap list sits at 5 beers with a Lager, Honey Lager, Amber Ale, IPA, and a Acotch Ale available for tasting or a full glass. Being a Kelowna based brewery there is no brewing equipment to be found on site but the character and personality is strong and on par with the Yaletown vibe which neighbouring restaurants exude.  The small lounge seats around 30 people comfortably with another 20 or so fitting outside, on the patio. This fits with the Yaletown standard for having some of the best patio seating in the city. If you are considering visiting this tasting lounge the outside-area is highly recommended.

Prohibition Tasting RoomThe food consists of mouth-watering favourites such as pulled pork sliders, assorted sandwiches, roasted vegetables and even a traditional pretzel. These orders may not fit as a meal but being well priced and of reasonable portion it is easy to fill your hunger all while satisfying your thirst. The beer itself is also quite nice. The Prohibition line of beers may not stretch the boundaries of craft beer flavour potential but that is also not the goal. These beers are on the lighter side and make for a lineup of rather sessionable, easy drinking brews perfect for enjoying with an assortment of appetizers on a Yaletown patio.

2014_07_BMBC-0753The prohibition lounge is a fantastic location to enjoy some craft beer and some tasty bites to go with it. Try the pretzels, give the pulled pork a try and don’t forget to eat your roasted vegetables. Along side the sessionable line of beers a flight of four, four ounce tasters will give you a chance to try some easy drinking and enjoyable BC brewed flavours. A personal favourite here was the Scotch Ale but you will have to be the judge. Give the full line a try and let us know what you think!
