Tin Whistle Brewing Co. – Osprey Pear White IPA
If British Columbia had one brewery that represents the Okanagan Fruit Industry very well it would be Penticton BC’s Tin Whistle Brewing Company. The Osprey Pear White IPA is a great representation of this philosophy being brewed with local pear crops. The beer pours an cloudy, light, golden colour with a finger and a half tint topping of head. Through this lightly lacing head comes strong fruit tones, notes of wheat and a subtle hop bitterness. Sweetness is on the nose from the fruit but is well balanced with the other scents. The flavour starts off crisp and refreshing while a lightly sweetened hop bitterness builds in the center. The sweetness has a slight pear-ness to it but also a touch of orange and lemon flavours. Surprisingly the bitterness mellows towards the end leaving a light bitter flavour at the back of the palate while a wheat-filled ending takes place. A fairly dry wheat flavour with a touch of lingering bitterness and fruit sweetness ends out this delicious ordeal the Tin Whistle calls the Osprey Pear White IPA.
