Persephone Brewing American Pale Ale Review

Persephone Brewing Co. – American Pale Ale Review

The Sunshine Coast is a great place to enjoy craft beer so it is no surprise that the Persephone Brewing Company knows a thing or two about brewing up some sunshine favourite brews. The American Pale ale is a traditional North American Pale Ale that appears a deep golden colour with less than a finger of lightly lacing head atop. The aroma is strong with both malt and hop. Great balance gives a pineyness to the flavour with a solid base of malt and light caramel. This seems right off the bat like a highly drinkable yet also flavourful BC brew. The flavour resembles the scent quite well. A malty start builds into a hopped mid-section ending in a mid-dry, hop-bittered finish. Slight caramelization is present but is simply a back-note to the beer’s mane stage. The Persephone American Pale Ale is relatively light and easy to drink in a perfect package for a warm summer’s night!

We visited Persephone twice on our recent trip to the Sunshine Coast. On the way up the coast we stopped to help for a bit with picking their hops. On the way back we stopped for a tasting and pizza.

The American Pale Ale was our favorite of the six beers that we tasted. Strangely, the only one we didn’t like too much, because it was too bland, was the one they were featuring, Octoberharvest or something like that.
