33 Acres Brewing Co. – 33 Acres of Life California Common

33 Acres of Life California Common Review
A California Common is a beer that is brewed as an ale using lager yeast. What this means is that rather than fermenting the lager at a cool temperature it is done at a higher temperature closer to that of an ale. Because of this fact a California Common is often referred to as a lager/ale hybrid. Rare to British Columbia, 33 Acres has brewed up the 33 Acres of Life and released it in bottles. This beer pours a coppery, amber colour with 2 fingers of lightly lacing head. Through this comes a malty scent lightly sweetened with a slight, clean hop along side. The flavour is crisp and more full bodied that you would expect with strong malted tones and a slight grassyness to the flavour. Also showing a lightly toasted, mild hop, the flavour builds in intensity as the finish approaches. The California Common is not the most popular beer style but this is a great example in a sessionable and friendly beer for just about anyone to enjoy.
