Three Ranges Up Swift Creek Pilsner ReviewThree Ranges Brewing Co. – Up Swift Creek Pilsner

One of the first breweries to open it’s doors in 2014 was Valemount’s Three Ranges Brewing Company. Located about a third of the way from Prince George on the way to Edmonton this small craft brewery has been opening the eyes of beer drinkers in the area to all that is craft beer. Sales of Three Ranges beer have not made it outside of BC’s interior but if you are passing through the area you may just find cans  on the local shelves.

First up is the Up Swift Creek Pilsner. This beer pours from the can a slightly clouded, golden colour topped with a full three fingers of lightly lacing head. The aroma is lightly sweet with malted tones. The aroma also features a light hop to it with strong citrus to boot. The smell is typical of a crisp and fresh pilsner with added citrus. The texture is slightly thicker than you may expect with a light creaminess to it. The Up Swift Creek Pilsner has more body that expected which works well with the sweetness and light northwest style hop. This is not a typical Pilsner but it is rather delicious and offers something a little different while remaining very sessionable and a great option for a summer day on the lake. If you can find this beer I would recommend picking up a few for the road – you will not be disappointed.
