Phillips Soda Works – Captain Electro Intergalactic Root Beer Review

Phillips Brewing was the first BC Brewery to introduce non-alcoholic beverages to their lineup in the form of Root Beer and Ginger Ale. The Intergalactic Root beer is a Cloudy Brown colour with noticeable sediment in the soda. The Root Beer actually pours with two fingers of head that disperses quite slowly. This is impressive for a root beer soda. The smell is a floral root beer spice with cane molasses and cinnamon notes coming through on the nose. The flavour is very different from your mainstream options but still stays true to what root beer is. Flavours of molasses, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg are noticeable along with the expected sugary sweetness. The carbonation is slightly less than your average soda and that is quite welcome. The Intergalactic Root Beer really is a craft offering. The taste is complex and well layered giving a sophisticated flavour to a childhood favorite.

I love this root beer. First had it at the Truffle Pig in Field, BC, in Yoho National Park, but can’t find it in the States. Planning a trip to Vancouver to stock up.

I tasted the Phillips’ Captain Electro Intergalactic Cinnamon, a dark root beer, which I loved. I’d like to know where I might purchase some of this delectable nectar. I was at a Catholic church event last evening where I was lucky enough to have snagged the last can. Thank you
