Mt. Begbie Brewing Co. – Darkside of the Stoke Coffee Stout Review

Revelstoke’s Mt Begbie Brewing Company has released a Coffee Stout called the Darkside of the Stoke. This near black in coloured beer pours with a single finger of tight, slowly dispersing head which leaves slight lacing on the glass. The smell is huge with coffee along side light toasted malt and chocolate. Really though, the smell from the Darkside of Stoke is all about coffee. Much like the aroma, the flavours in this stout are too all coffee. The fist sip resembles a cool and smooth spiked coffee more than a beer.  The taste is smooth and creamy with coffee playing louder than the rest of the orchestra. There is a slight toasted malt and chocolate flavour but getting past the coffee is rather tough. If you like coffee then this beer is for you!

Alcohol – 4.8%
Size – 650ml bottle
Price – $6.80 per bottle (Cold Beer and Wine)
