Scandal Brewing Offers Third Beer ‘Wonder’ – Mt. Everest Barleywine.

pacificwesternThe third release in Scandal Brewing’s Seven Wonders series is the Mt Everest Barley Wine. This follows the Sugarloaf Imperial Stout and the Grand Canyon Pumpkin Bock. This limited release beer should start arriving at craft beer retailers very soon.

PRINCE GEORGE (Nov. 4, 2013) – This week will see British Columbia’s Scandal Brewing release the third in its ‘Seven Wonders of the Beer World’ series: Mt. Everest Barleywine.

At 9.0% ABV and 65 IBUs, it’s no secret this beer has borrowed some awe-inspiring properties from the roof of the world. A tribute to the scandalous fact that one in ten climbers never return from their ascent, this bold and daring brew will only be available for a limited time in select BC liquor stores this winter.

“This barleywine was brewed with the classic English style in mind, using just enough hops to give it a strong, earthy flavour like a traditional IPA,” says Henryk Orlik (aka Suddly Brew Right), brewmaster at the Prince George-based brewery. “Following in the footsteps of the Grand Canyon Pumpkin Bock, the Mt. Everest Barleywine is the second beer to be brewed on our 10 HL pilot brewing system. As the sole Canadian brewery with a system like this, our brewers are given a chance to be as adventurous as those who conquer Everest, but without the occupational hazards.”

Potent and perilous as the world’s highest peak, the brewery has created their strongest beer yet. “A mix of organic Canadian two-row and crystal 60 malts, German summit and hallertau tradition hops, yeast, and pure spring water, were used for this batch. The result is a robust, hop-forward barleywine accented by a subtle malt sweetness and hints of anise—perfect on a cold night around the fireplace.” Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this limited edition winter warmer because, like being on top of the world, it only comes around once in a lifetime.

As a tribute to the planet’s most extraordinary features, Scandal Brewing’s ‘Seven Wonders of the Beer World’ are brewed in small batches, making them a rare and memorable taste experience reflected by an earthly wonder. Each beer in the limited edition series is a perfect companion to the unique seasonal landscape and quality of life that British Columbians cherish.
