Phillips Brewing Co. – Green Reaper Fresh Hop IPA Review

Back from the dead is the Green Reaper – a fresh hopped India Pale Ale from Victoria’s Phillips Brewing Company. This beer is a golden-amber colour which pours erupting with more than three full fingers of head. The head settles slowly leaving a thick coating of residue on the glass. Through the Green Reaper’s thick crown comes heavy hop notes stemming from the healthy dose of Cascadian Hops. Though a defined bitterness and intensity comes through strong the fresh and light tones of wet-hops do shine through as well. The Green Reaper is one of the heavier-hopped wet-hops of 2014 with a defined piney-bitterness that lingers long after the tasting finishes. The fresh hops add depth to what could otherwise seem one-dimensional. There are light tropical fruit tones that come through along side the hop bitterness but it is hops, hops and wet hops everywhere else. If you are an IPA lover in search for a little more give this a try as it is really quite good!

For I think I actually prefer this beer to Driftwood Sartori this year. It’s a great tasting beer and you can actually find it anywhere no need to run all over the place.
