Granville Island Brewing Co – Limited Release Imperial IPA Review

Back for another year is the much anticipated Imperial IPA from Granville Island Brewing Co. Pouring an opaque amber colour there are noticeable chunks of sediment floating in the beer. Topping the sediment-rich ale are three fingers of sticky, slowly settling head. The aroma here is of floral notes and hints of passion fruit, mango and citrus alongside the piney-bitter cascadian hop. When you taste this imperial IPA brace yourself. A strong hop bitterness attacks in unison with a floral sweetness and a boozy backing. The trio packs a punch but refrains from letting one central strength to stand out. This intense brew from Granville Island may not be for everyone but if you can truly appreciate a strong Imperial IPA then be sure to pick up a bottle or two of this is it may be a little out there but as Granville Island Brewing says, ‘it’s good to be here!’
