Parallel 49 Brewing Co. – Black Hops Cascadian Dark Lager Review

The Black Hops is a Cascadian Dark Lager that has come from the brewing mastermind of Parallel 49 Brewing Company. This beer is a close to black colour topped with three fingers of off-white head that clings to the glass. Smelling this extremely dark lager, cascadian hops come front and centre with background chocolate and toffee tones coming through second. When the Black Hops touches the tongue the palate is bombarded with piney hop and a light toffee sweetness. Touches of chocolate and toasted malt also come through but play second string to the hop main-stage. As Parallel 49 always seems to manage this is a very enjoyable beer that takes what we all love about a dark lager and throws a potent mix of cascadian hops into play making for an enjoyable, flavourful and unique beer that everyone should try.

This is an awesome example of why lagers can be very good to drink. I just wish more lagers had real flavour!
