Spinnakers Brewing Co. – Uber Blonde Ale Review (2013 edition)

The Uber Blonde is a Belgian style ale from the Spinnkers Brewpub in Victoria. As a traditional Tripel, it pours a golden-straw colour with a finger and a half of clinging head. The aroma is of wheat, clove, citrus and coriander making for a strong, robust and deep flavour profile. Tasting the beer it is more mild than you may expect with strong citrus notes that take hold. The coriander is also quite prevalent with a touch of clove coming into the picture. With a low 30-IBU the finish is dry and lightly sweet making for a refreshing summer beer that holds the kick of a strong ale. This beer may not be the end all of Belgian beers but it is very refreshing and has an oddly smooth character that is quite pleasant.
