Spinnakers Ales – Jameson’s Scottish Ale Review

From Victoria’s Spinnakers Gastro Brew Pub comes the Jameson’s Scottish Ale. Pouring a chestnut brown colour topped with one finger of head this ale smells malted, mid-sweet and is touched with spices that play tribute to the Victoria native Jameson Family. The taste is crisp and smooth with toasted malt building a pleasant sweetness. Mild notes of nutmeg and coriander add depth to the ale while a mild hop finish balance the finish for a smooth, drinkable and relatively neutral beer. The taste is by no means boring but the flavours meld seamlessly leaving the tongue striving to pick any one aspect from the taste. The Jameson’s Scottish ale is a traditionally brewed beer that captures the essence of the style perfectly.
