Howe Sound Brewing Co. – Super Jupiter Grapefruit IPA

2013_03_BMBC-56The latest seasonal offering from Howe Sound is their Super Jupiter Grapefruit IPA. This beer is an amber colour with 1 1/2 fingers of thick and slowly settling head. The smell is citrus and floral with a northwest hoppy bitterness backing it all up. The taste is strong of grapefruit citrus and the sour/bitterness of the fruit contrasts the hop bitterness giving a contradictory balance and making for a polar and very enjoyable flavour. I am not usually over the top on fruit beers but this is well balanced, thought out and it comes across quite pleasantly. Give it a try as something new this spring.
