Granville Island Brewery – Limited Edition Scottish Ale Review

The Granville Island Brewery Limited Edition Scottish Ale pours into the glass with a single finger of quickly dispersing head. The colour of this beer is a dark amber-brown which gives off a smell of toasted malt with a hint of bourbon-ness. The flavour starts off with a smooth, lightly sweet toasted malt profile. This builds into a creamy texture along side a touch of oak and bourbon aged flavour. The finish is surprisingly neutral and warming with a very mild hop-bitter finish. This beer is smooth, mellow and flavourful – an enjoyable, unique and great tasting beer.

Overall a great beer, but I do agree its just a bit boring. Very smooth, you wouldn’t know it was 6.5%. All of the flavours are very mild and meld together very well but overall it just doesn’t have any flavours that stick out and make it amazing.
