Big River Brewing Co. – Vienna Lager Review

The Vienna Lager is a release from the newly revamped Big River Brewing Company. In the past reviews of Big River Beers the bottles have been plagued with a trend of low carbonation and flavour contamination and unfortunately this bottle is no exception. Filling a glass with half a pinky of head it settles quickly above a golden amber coloured lager. The flavour is malted and builds into a sweet and relatively smooth tasting beer. It is much sweeter than expected but the texture is smooth and the overall impression quite mellow. The only disappointing part is the lack of carbonation. I would guess to that the addition of C02 would also level the sweetness giving a easier drinking beer. This beer is one to try at the brewery but again I would pass on the bottle.

Alcohol – 5.4%
Size –650ml bottle
Price – $6.00 (Brewpub)
Only available at the Big River Brewpub.

I really do not understand what they are doing wrong. Their beer is quite tasty at the brewery but the bottles are just bad.

I guess that is more incentive to head over to the brewery?
