Phillips Brewing Co. - Hammer Imperial Stout Review Phillips Brewing Co – The Hammer Imperial Stout Review

The Hammer is a hard-hitting imperial stout from Victoria’s Phillips Brewing Co. This stout does not let any light through its black colour and is topped with a three finger thick bounty of dark and fluffy head. The aroma is of coffee and chocolate in a creamy and dark package. Tasting this beer along with most imperial stouts you need to be prepared. While this is on the mellow side of the category it still packs a punch and should come with a parental advisory. The taste is smooth with the coffee notes coming in strongest above the thick and creamy body. If you like dark beer but are new to imperial stouts this could be a great beer for you. It is true to the name but does not leave its drinkers whimpering in the sight of it. For an imperial stout this is very drinkable and quite enjoyable.
