Phillips Brewing Co. – 2012 Instigator Doppelbock Review

The Phillips Instiator Doppelbock is an amber colour that pours with 2 fingers of quickly dispersing head. The beer smells of toasted malt and mild caramel. The Instigator has a creamy texture with a toasted, lightly sweetened taste. A heavy body takes the toasted, lightly caramel flavour through to the finish that shows a strong ale taste giving a contrasting harshness to the otherwise smooth taste. This beer, along with most doppelbock style beers are strong and not for the beer-naive. It is relatively smooth though and has a great toasted malt flavour.

Alcohol – 8.5%
