Hoyne Brewing Co. – Big Bock Review

The Hoyne Big Bock pours into the glass a transparent yet dark amber-brown colour with a full two fingers of head. The bubbles cling to the glass beneath the heady surface and leaves a thick residue above. The smell is of a honey sweetness and toasted notes atop a malted base. The taste is crisp and clean; the start has a touch of bitterness that continues consistently through the sip. Near the finish this builds into a toasted, bitter-sweet ending that leaves the palate asking for more. The european style hop makes for a clean and defined bitterness and when paired with the toasted notes they offer a symbiotic balance that carries on seamlessly.
