Russell Brewing Co. – Black Death Porter Review

The Russell Black Death Porter is Dark, showing deep brown tinges of light barely making its way through the beer filled glass. A head topps the glass approximately two fingers thick which leaves significant lacing on its sides. Coming through the head is an aroma that has notes of caramel and toasted malts. The flavour is relatively mild with a touch of nut and creamy chocolate accompanying the malt, lightly sweet body. The finish has a hop bitterness that pairs with the chocolate tones to give a balanced and delicious flavour profile. The chocolate notes are creamy but the beer is not, This brew is a great representation of chocolate flavour in a lighter than expected bodied beer. The Russell Black Death Porter is a big beer with solid and defined flavour profiles but remains within the boundaries of style. Chocolate fans unite and give this classic BC brew a try – you will likely enjoy it!
