Stanley Park Brewery – 1897 Amber Ale Review
Stanley Park Brewery is the oldest brewery in BC. Founded in 1897 they have produced great beer for a very long time. In addition to this heritage the brewery is now utilizing sustainable wind power for production. A traditional brewery that has progressive ideas. That is something worth talking about!
The Stanley Park 1897 Amber Ale is an amber brown colour. It enters the glass with a full two fingers of head that remains thick and settles slowly without a trace. The smell is malty with a touch of toasted caramel. Tasting the beer it is not quite what you would expect from the smell. The taste is stronger than expected with toasted honey notes. The honey flavour is consistent through the entire beer leaving the tongue with a sweetened, lightly hopped aftertaste. Overall, the Stanly Park 1897 Amber is a touch on the sweet side compared to many amber ales but remains smooth, crisp and easy to drink. At home, the pub or outside with friends this is a great choice for your next 6 pack.
