Russell Brewing Co. – Marzen Oktoberfest Lager (2012) Review

As an Oktoberfest style lager the Russel Marzen pours a copper-amber colour capped with a child’s sized finger of head that settles quickly and evenly. Through this thin head comes a well malted aroma tied to a sweetness. The taste is light on the malt with minimal carbonation to match. There are notes of a light nutty sweetness that add depth and character to the beer. The finish is balanced with a traditional German hop that gives a clean and lightly bitter finish.  Overall the Russell Marzen is crisp, refreshing and easy to drink. The flavour has enough to it though that it is enjoyable and intriguing. I could drink a few of these in a night.
