Canoe Brewpub – Red Canoe Lager Review

The Canoe Lager is as light in colour as you could ever imagine for a quality lager. The shimmering gold colour is followed by a suitingly malty and refreshing flavour. Despite the lightness the finish has a distinct bitterness to it that is the result of a modest, European hop. This beer comes together as an easy drinker for the easy taster but displays many layers and complexity to those that point their pinkies while tasting. Nothing really sets this beer apart from other quality Lagers but that is not a bad thing. A truly unique lager is no lager at all and this is traditional in European standards. In fact, this is really more of a Pilsner than anything else. The only real negative to this beer is that you can only get it from the Canoe Brewpub in Victoria BC.
