Overview

Phillips Brewing Longboat Chocolate Porter Review Phillips Brewery – Longboat Chocolate Porter Review

The Phillips Brewery Longboat Chocolate Porter is a deep and dark coloured beer that is nearly pitch black in colour. Pouring the beer into a glass, three full fingers of light brown head top the beer and settles leaving light lacing behind. The aroma is big with chocolate, caramel, and a smooth bitter-sweetness. The body is rather smooth and gives way to a flavour that is off the bat a malty and caramel-sweetened porter. This flavour grows into a cocoa bitter sweetness that lingers well into the finish. The longboat is a balance of porter flavours and chocolate notes while keeping the sweetness level in check. This is a great example of a well crafted porter infused with the delicious bitter-sweet tones of cocoa powder.
