Fernie Brewing Co. – First Trax Brown Ale Review

Fernie Brewing Company’s First Trax Brown Ale is a beer that has become a staple among BC beer drinkers. As a traditional Brown Ale this beer pours from the can a deep brown colour with a smooth, chocolaty and slightly burnt, nutty aroma. The flavour is malty and lightly sweet with a nutty, chocolate tone on the tongue. The sweetness in this beer is apparent but not overbearing with a caramel tinge to it. The nut flavour with hints of chocolate linger in the finish leaving a smooth and pleasant, lightly hop-bittered finish for an all-in-all rather sessionable Brown Ale.

I found this to be a pretty basic brown ale with nothing to special going on, still a better choice than say Newcastle, but lots of better BC brown ales out there.
