Bowen Island Brewing Co. – Artisan IPA Review

While this is the hoppiest of the Bowen Island line of beers, the Artisan IPA is a mild take on a stronger idea. A low IBU and medium level of maltiness leads to a very drinkable light IPA. You could even consider this a gateway IPA as it is bound to open one’s eyes to what a hoppy beer can truly be.

This more a more English rather than Northwest style IPA. The mild hop is complimented with a citrus/grapefruit flavour that lingers in the after-notes. The Bowen Island Artisan IPA is a great beer for the game, patio or any other excuse you’d like to make. Plus, with a price just over $8.00 for a 6 pack this is a bargain for the starving student or other budget focused beer drinker.

Alcohol – 5.5%
Size – 355ml
Price – $8.41 – 6 Pack (BCL)

My favourite affordable IPA has changed! Not only is the design on the can different, but the flavour of the beer is inferior. What’s going on Bowen?
